Melissa Godoy launches principal photography in
Over-the-Rhine.The team aims for a film style called
direct
cinema. This style is observational, fly-on-the-wall
filmmaking. The goal of the Rebirth of Over-the-Rhine
team, therefore, is to "watch people live
and work" over a long period of time during this
crucial era of transformation. (Community members: with

Clips, joins the Over-the-Rhine team as
story advisor.
5/24/07 Local filmmaker Melissa
Godoy joins the production team of Rebirth of
Over-the-Rhine.
5/10/07 Beta website goes live. Feedback from Cincinnati
and Washington DC expands. (Provide feedback.)
4/16/07 PBS Cincinnati affiliate CET
teams up to support production of Rebirth of Over-the-Rhine.
In his letter formalizing the cooperation, Executive
VP and COO Jack Dominic writes, "CET looks forward
to becoming closely involved in this project as it fits
closely with our strategic mission of providing programming
about and for our Cincinnati community. We have a good
track record working with independent producers. Our
relationship with PBS should assist in getting national
exposure for this program once it is completed."
4/11/07 Dorst
MediaWorks enters into a fiscal sponsorship grant
agreement with Catticus Corporation, a Berkeley, California-based
media entity. The agreement paperwork states that the
film will "further Catticus' educational purposes
by educating American audiences about the renewal of
an historic Cincinnati neighborhood." Henceforth,
people may support Rebirth
of Over-the-Rhine with 100% tax-deductible donations.
3/29/07 Steve Dorst and Joe Brinker take pre-production
trip to Cincinnati for dozens of meetings with potential
advisors, partners, and characters.
2/13/07 Steve Dorst and Joe Brinker launch pre-production
on Rebirth of Over-the-Rhine. The objective:
to chronicle a transformative era in America's most
distinctive urban core.
